DATE OF VISIT Autumn 2014
On a wet blustery Saturday we again stayed local for breakfast, and tried this busy family-run café.
We found a seat near the window (there’s a reasonable amount of inside seating, and for the brave a couple of outside seats). The café also operates as a take away and has a steady stream of customers.
We ordered from the large blackboard menus above the counter. There’s a great range of both meat and veggie options, sandwiches etc made to your order on a choice of bread, or for the hungrier customer a full/half set breakfast option for both the carnivore and veggie customer. Coffees (a choice of instant or filter available) were served straight away, plenty hot enough to last the visit.
Freshly cooked tasty food came after a short wait, piping hot, and enough to satisfy. The Full English is indeed a filler, with toast and hot drink included in the price. The veggie sausage sandwich (on white French bread) is large enough to satisfy a healthy appetite.
Nice friendly service – and the offer of a free coffee top-up was a lovely touch.
OTHER NOTES: Local magazines and the odd national newspaper available to read. Pay on ordering (helpful signs advise you of this). Hard to fault this one for value. There were clearly a number of regulars which is a reflection of the friendliness of the staff.
